better than expected

i wish i could say tat for my results but the truth is i didnt really had any expectations for myself for this exam. but ok i did quite well. quite well being defined by me.

firstly, i would like to thank myself for getting such an awesome grade for GP with no credit given to my teacher. ok joking. i admit i wasnt really a good GP student. was always uninterested in her lessons. maybe if i had paid attention in class, i could have gotten an A! i was very surprised i managed to get a B. nevertheless, thank you Mrs Richards, she was one of the best GP teachers.

geog ah geog. if i expected any subject to flunk, it would be geog. why not? i didnt even get to finish writing la.. i mean i didnt have anything to write.. i mean i wrote all tat i can write.. aiya wadever it is, i really disappointed ms tan. =(

maths A ah? ok.. kinda surprised cos so many ppl say the paper was easy so the curve may have thrown me off to a B. but still, i got an A. ok good job. i believe Mdm Ong is an excellent teacher. should i say i didnt regret not doing the practice papers? ok dun so hao lian.

chem was kinda expected cos the paper was damn hard!! lol but jefferson got A. anyway Mrs Jasima is a good teacher, who didnt know my name till year2 and had commented my handwriting being long.

OMG physics got A!!! really the most unexpected grade of my entire results. Mdm Ong and Ms Cheng were like the best teachers!! seriously, after failing like so many tests and exams, i think it's one of those times i actually got A for phys.

overall, i still think my results are kinda ok. lol there are too many ppl tat got better grades than me.

oh ya got a new phone

ok i tot i'll just post something random cos tml's the release of [the long awaited] Alvl results. personally im neither feeling excited/psyched/sad yet. but then i'll be very very high tml. seems everyone else is feeling kinda nervous. lots of ppl have already started posting facebook status abt tml lol.

anyway im not very sure wad kind of grades i'll. most probably the average kind. in other words. the very bad kind -.- too bad i didnt really study XP

i seriously dun have any expectations for my academic performance. maybe tats why my grades are nearly always borderline passes?

apparently Pokemon Black & White is going to be released this sunday at Funan Mall. players are able to download the Liberty Pass from wi-fi to get a Victini!! =D

combining the post for the 2 maths paper. personally i feel that paper 1 was easier and paper 2 was more tedious. alot of people thought the paper was easy - seriously affects bell curve.

reading physics is so boring.. but what to do? must study to get a good grade. for some reason, i cant't figure out, there is something preventing me from memorising 2 paragraphs from the semiconductors notes - formation of depletion zone & forward bias current flow. kinda weird cos tats like the only 2 things in the entire set of lecture notes i cant get in my head. even proteins is easier to memorise XP

it couldnt be me imagining things becos apparently (almost??) the whole school thought GP paper was damn easy. it did help that 5 of the 12 essay qns were the ones we've done before.. and the compre.. like the easiest one i ever done in my JC life. ok shall exaggerate on how easy the paper is. skali next year results chui~

Boss Battle - why 1st?

today was one of the boss battles. stage 1 - geography. what i studied for didnt actually come out. cant and wont blame them cos it's me who studied too little =P. in the past, i would have said "i'll try harder for the next paper. should have studied more..." but this time is the final time, hopefully. there is no point, or rather there is little value for regrets in this case.

can't really say it feels good to be back in class. but hor it beats sitting/lying at home playing card games all day long. seriously la, even my Chaos deck is not tat interesting. found out i got 30/40 for phys MCQ. lol most of the guessed qns correct sia!! XD first time so heng. shall get permission from frens to post their results here =P. all i can say tat warren is bloody noisy as always.

ate BLUEBERRY ripple icecream during breaktime! nice sia! ^^ long time nvr eat liaos. and then maths was seriously very de-moralising i only got 53 and 59 for maths paper1 & 2 respectively. warren got higher than me for paper2 and he was sibei happy. though in the end, i still got a better overall score than him.. oh well, let him have his moment of happiness. i shld/will study for the next mock exam, so as not to lose to warren again. very paiseh sia lose to him. anyway for this maths prelim, i got an MC grade cos i didnt take paper1 on the actual day. think i'll land in band4 this time.

assembly today was short and fun. while i only took 10mins or so to complete the simple 46 qn survey, warren was shading the boxes like an Art student. after finishing the survey, i peeked over to look at warren's less than half completed OTAS sheet -_-ll warren still can tell ppl he no time to finish.. of course la!! shade so bloody slow. whole LT left you shading the bloody paper!

i must have scored an insignificant grade for GP cos richards didnt even notice me sitting in front of her XP wadever la tml will find out how bad i died for GP. anyway richards kicked warren's chair for 3 times throughout the assembly. if you want to know more about it, have to go ask him cos i cant really rmb all the details.

feels like im missing something out, again. i'll write it in another post if i ever got a chance to recall it.

Thousand Of Miles Away

seems like i missed yesterday's maths prelim paper 1. so sad for warren and all the others in the [almost always freezing] hall doing the stupid paper which i heard was quite challenging. Meanwhile, thousands of miles away i was still sleeping =P anyway i quickly got ready and went to NUH, which was the second artifically brightest place i've ever been to. in any case, i got lost in NUH -.- (lucky went early or confirm miss appointment time) anyway the time i reached the cardiac clinic was 12.13pm, 2mins before the appointed time 12.15pm. very funny lol, after entering the supposed main entrance, on the right was a food court, on the left a corridor, and directly in front was a gift shop ^^ nth much inside. i walked into the corridor, followed the path until i eventually lost clinic H as i saw it progress from A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and then H gone. turned and walked back then i saw clinic H was actually the most front clinic. anyway i had to go ECG again before seeing the doctor.. so like 20mins later i went back to cardiac clinic. so i almost answer no to all the doctor's qn. smoke? -no. alcohol? -no. sudden deaths in family? -no o_O. so again new appointment. this time going to heart scan: 16/2/2011. yes next year -.- so i can definitely be sure i won't be going NS the day after prom. unless there's a unit for PES D? but then the doctor also said im actually ok but do the scan just to be safe.. skali in the end, after going a big round, work done =0 and posted to PES B. tat would be more diao then funny.

Longg Weekend

im already starting to write this post before i reached home. rather than just looking outside the window, i thought of writing a post earlier. here's the content of this post:

must have misplaced the organic planning question paper. instead of paying attention, i was just daydreaming in lecture. so probably missed quite a lot of content and some of the jokes. next week, the cohort is going to be split up for banded lecture, which suddenly struck to me - wads the lecture going to be on? my chem grade D got me into band 2 lecture at LT4, which is the same as warren? and hopefully can get a good seat to sleep in~

omg i just passed phys paper2! which is just ard my expectations. wonder why my paper2 so chui. after the 1M for the 12M planning question, my worse question was qn2 oscillations. phys hasnt announced plans for banding yet, not until nuclear physics is over.

anyway ms tan was not disappointed with the phys results. so maybe it was a difficult paper? seriously la.. so cham! today ms cheng [and richards =D] nvr come >.<>

and almost the entire class went home and didnt stay till 3pm

waited quite some time before getting back geog results. jefferson MUST BE quite happy tat he got a better grade than last time. and though penghau did one less question, i only got 1M higher for the overall score!! [in other words, his other sections not bad] ok fine it's actually because my other sections very lousy. wah if even jefferson can get higher than me, warren got chance to pass geog already!!

ok tml no sch cos need to go NS checkup.. regardless of tat, there's still alot of homework:

Comdey & Tragedy

the title of this post is by far the most appropriate one amongst all the others. this was the feeling i was carrying today. laughter and perhaps not sadness but more of disappointment. since the passing of today, i had almost gotten back all of my exam papers. wads left is only geog and phys p2. and i just cant stop having this feeling of not doing well enough. perhaps i was too COMPLACENT. anyway, i'll carry on the post 1st.

i only got to check my luck percentage on facebook after i reached home at about 3.30pm. according to facebook, im supposed 81% lucky. wadever tat meant, i felt it wasnt really very accurate in the sense i didnt think today was worth such a high score.

this morning was the time i had finally cut my fingernails. -.-

took me like 10mins, given the large amount of keratin i had to trim off. after trimming the nail plate, i suddenly feel the hyponychium feeling very sensitive. it's probably due to it being too protected for such a long time and i never got to expose it. it feels good to have short nail plates. though i prefer having long nail plates haha

physics physics. im grateful [dun noe to who or what] for having passed phys p3. i really tot i couldnt make it. if i counted correctly, i have around 4M worth of error carried forward. did i study for this paper? i only did the revision package partially. perhaps tat helped me. but i think i was lucky thistime round. if my calculations are correct, i need ard 80% for paper2 for overall A grade, which in this case is not possible!! instead, i'll probably get 50/72 which is ard 69% which contributes to overall grade of B.

after ms tan went through the hydro part for hydro, many people including me realised they had not really answered wad the questions were asking for. the hydro students really suck at global. the urban people really suck at litho =P

it was quite stupid when people passed physical geog but failed when the global component was added to it. now it just makes me wonder why there was a need for physical and human geog..

note to self: helicoidal flow cannot be seen.

i'll give a brief SUMMARY of wad happened for summary. basically jefferson wrote 60 more words than me and got half a mark more. perhaps i should go check his blog to see if he complains [which i hope he does. lol]. and the rest of the qn were like shit la as usual. this time i managed to get some marks for vocab. not bad. 23/50

stupid essay. why must our class' scripts be marked by a strict marker?!! so unfair!! perhaps i could have gotten 20? which is like looked so much nicer than my pathetic 18? wadever the case is, im sure richards is not gonna let me off this easily, esp with the consultation thing @_@

well tats all. i shld probably start doing some of my long-overdued work. perhaps then i'll get better grades than these!!

today had a afternoon maths paper

woke up unceremoniously. no, i didnt knock into my wardrobe.

why did i wake up so early? Zzz

paper starts at 2pm and i woke up at 8.30am with lots of slacking time in between

lol rmb it rained last year on the day of maths midyr paper.

before any of the buses came, the bus-stop was so full that people were standing outside.

when the 1st bus came, people started rushing to the door.

then halfway through the boarding, another bus came.

immediately, half the queue went to flag for the 2nd bus.

then came another bus

and another bus

and YET another bus

and came the final bus which me and jefferson board. hm let's see. 20 seats choose 1.

Geog MYE and the events of that day

ignore the fact that this post should have been us yesterday.

hm maybe i shall change the time of post..

anyway my alarm didnt go off

how could it go off, i didnt set it to ring at anytime =.=

so i woke in the morning, picked up my phone, guessing tat it's probably early like 2am, only to find out [with much luck], tat it was already 4.55am, 10mins after the supposed time i was supposed to wake up which i didnt cos my alarm was turned on.

as i looked out the window, the breeze of the rain was cooling [lol dangling participle]

drank a small cup of slight-bitter coffee, which i found a liking to after drinking one cup tat my AhMa had made, though this one was more bitter..

note to self: get coffee recipe from AhMa. ^^

Well, i guessed i didnt fall asleep during the trip to school.

unlike the 7-11 outlet tat operates for 2hrs, the Cheers outlet at the MRT station was opened, and i bought an extra can of coffee just in case.

well nobody was really studying for geog. not me at least.

the last half hour and i was flipping through my somewhat clean notes, hoping diffusion took place and reproduce the info during the exam [which, for obvious reasons, didnt happen]

when it was finally the time to start the exam, i slowly flipped opened the question paper, looked at the 1st question on limestone weathering, continued to turn until i reached the last page. in my mind i was thinking, anyhow =.=lll

even though the hydro questions were easy [do i really mean this? skali get lower marks than other parts. lol] the other sections like global were killers. i had no idea wad the global DRQ was on. did i even spot the general trend? once again, i left the 16 marks global essay part (b) blank. i can totally picture ms leong writing "time management is important". i couldnt agree more. i should have done the other questions more slowly, tat way i will allocate lesser time to actually consider wad kind of rubbish had to write for the litho and global questions, which by the way contribute to about 66%

i can only hope tat the hydro part will save me from getting less than 33%

did i get 34% for common test? o_O

A Long Post

Doing on update on paper, due to my random laptop being unfunctional currently. It has been a long time since I last updated my blog (not just because of technical difficulties, but simply also being lazy to post any updates)

So anyway, this is definitely going to be a long post, covering the events from the March holidays, the hours spent studying for common test, the hours not studying for common test, to the actual common tests.

Tuesday 16/3, marks the beginning of the studying period for the common tests. The supposedly time slot for Geog on that day was totally a waste of time with me doing nothing much but playing computer games at home. Geog was totally uninspiring for me. My notes looked super clean since last year. Falling asleep during lectures totally didn't help in anything at all.

I would think that my super-thick physics file is heavier than me. Brought it all the way from my home to Lot 1 [the library opens at 11am]

Interestingly enough, the CCK library had lots of tables and chairs. Jefferson busied himself doing COE and DC circuits questions, with Warren sitting beside him [around a round table] attempting to attempt random G-field practice questions.

That day was no exception for me. It passed as fast as it came. Farah joined us for just a short while. After the usual walk around the food court with the all too familiar question in my mind "what to eat?..", Warren and I joined the long queue for pepper lunch. And this "gei kiang" Warren "guai lan" go choose the zai spot to sit. Saw a random mediacorp artiste.

My summation of series tutorial was finally completed from last year on Thursday. I can't believe that 6 tutorial questions took me such a long time to complete. Azmira was studying carbonyl compounds on that day. Organic chem is so much easier compared to maths.

Warren was walking around Lot 1 all by himself [aw, so poor thing]. I packed my stuff and went to look for him. Weather in CCK is totally random.., it managed to rain heavily on the CCK MRT station without the slightest drop of rain at South View LRT station. Upon alighting the train, the pressure difference between the colder air "outside" the platform and the warmer air "inside" the platform caused a horizontal displacement of air particles into the station. The wind was cold.

Given the more limited choices of food at Lot 1, lunch was a meal at Long John Silvers'. When I ordered the 2 piece fish meal, the person at the counter was like "why not try our new meal?" So anyway I bought it (even though i wanted to eat fish) Soon after DeFa came in LJS and walked out to buy bee hoon o_O. After eating the oily food, we relocated to the familiar food court upstairs. While DeFa was studying summation, Warren was wasting time stoning. After a long persuasion, he took out the 2009 maths common test paper to do.

Warren had no idea that the shortest distance from point A to a plane is the magnitude of AN, where N is the foot of perpendicular form point A to the plane.

After Jefferson came, Warren was stoning even more.. As usual, Warren didn't do very well for Jefferson's test.

Friday was the day my laptop officially broke down. The screen turns blank, and it switched off by itself. Facebook said I was 97% lucky.

Then again, I managed to study the whole of organic chemistry - alkanes, alkenes, arenes, halogen derivatives, hydroxyl compounds, carbonyl compounds, carboxylic acids and derivatives, and nitrogen compounds. So it was pretty balanced. One nitrogen compounds question is as follow:

Last two days of holidays and I am supposed to be studying for my H1 Geog paper on Monday. focus on Saturday was the whole of lithosphere. Yet, I only studied the plate tectonics theory, Linton's hypothesis, Palmer and Nelson's hypothesis, and the rocky cycle.

Sunday was a boring day for me. I didn't study anything for global

as William said "GG-fied"

Geog paper on Monday was soft and hard. Ms Tan was 'smiling' at my sketch of tors/castle koppies/tafoni. Went to toilet to get some "inspiration" Didn't finish the whole paper.

By the time I reached home on Monday, I was already too exhausted to study for anything. That always change after a good shower.

Things left to study for chem:

- secondary structure of proteins

- chemical energetics

- chemical equilibrium

- reaction kinetics

- periodicity

- Group II

Next day morning, woke up at the usual time to do the usual stuff before going to school. Was reading organic synthesis. The last few minutes before assembly and I took out my physical and inorganic chem notes

Paper 1 was definitely a difficult paper. Some of the questions got me stunned. Even the organic section was challenging.

Paper 2 was more manageable. I had just enough time to write out my answers. The question on Maxwell Boltzmann Distribution Curve was blank for me. To think I actually told Warren to study for that. LMAO.

I didn't bring IC on that day. Perhaps I left it at home..

Woke up at 10am with plenty of sleep from last night. The maths paper contained many proving questions. No more other comments for the paper.

The day for the physics paper didn't go well. Both paper 1 and paper 2 were difficult and challenging. Though the data analysis question was fairly easy, almost no one had the time to fully complete the paper. But enough of that..

The rest of the day was allocated to celebrate the end of the common tests, with the usual people eating at Safra Jurong. The food there is enough for my lunch and dinner.

Friday was sibei fun. =P

Went to Sheng Shiong to shop for BBQ stuff. We bought lots of random stuff. LOL we even bought whole squids and prawns. The 6 of us headed back to Stacy's house to marinate the chicken wings and cut the squid. Debbie was trying to feel for stuff to pick up in the squid when she took out a dead fish of about 6 cm. Apparently this poor squid was caught just after eating its meal. Zikang was really professional in fine chopping the garlic. Marinating the chicken was the most fun part with random quantities of oyster sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic and ginger.

Woke up early morning for school (on a Saturday =.=). The AV room wasn't open yet!! Luckily the schedule had allowed us enough time for slacking.

Team A and B had funny performances..

Jerome did a random dance with the Kitaro music. The singing was terrible yet funny. Everyone had chicken rice for lunch.

The station tests were more random. There were 6 stations - canteen, LT4, hall, concourse, classroom 1 and 2. Lol. Everyone told the juniors the wrong directions but surprisingly, it ended by 4pm, just in time to set up the fire.

The fire was burning and the food prepared - cooking time!! 5 packets of hotdog and I didn't even eat one =.=. o_O the marinated chicken wing tasted nice, especially with honey. After eating, the group sat down on the track. While Debbie was asking what games to play, some of the boys came back with a styrofoam box with something inside >> make a guess!! =)

Packing up took like half an hour. We were out of the school around 9pm.

It was a fun day XP

GP paper 2 - 20.5/50 (41%)

better than I thought, lol

from the way ms leong and ms tan go through the answers, I already knew im gonna fail geog..

chem paper 1 - 22/30 (73.3%)

it's ok.. I guess o_O

physics paper 2 - 38/80 (47.5%)

slightly better than expected..

Finally got a break on Good Friday. Weather was hot at Mt Vernon Crematorium..

Waited 1hr in queue at the bank before getting back my laptop =D

all my data were lost, so I've to re-download everything..

I finished typing everything!!
